The very first thing I do every single morning before ingesting anything is drinking a glass of Luke warm water with lemon. You should replace drinking Coffee in the morning with lemon water and here’s why… Put simply pH is a number that rates how acidic or how alkaline a substance is on a scale of 1-14. All disease begins in the gut, drinking lemon water first thing in the morning helps your gut by stimulating the production of hydrochloric acid. This ingredient is needed by our stomach to digest and expel waste because it is rich in vitamin C.
On the PH scale…
- 7 is considered neutral
- pH over 7 is considered alkaline
- & anything below 7 is considered acidic.
One of the most consumed beverages in America aka Coffee falls at a 5 on that scale which is acidic. When we are sleeping our bodies are charging, and it uses overnight rest time to excrete acids from our bodies. When we wake up in the morning and ingest Coffee for breakfast, we are consuming an acidic beverage, taking away all of the bodies hard work. When you wake up in the morning you are breaking the fast with the first thing you put in your body. That very first thing should be cleansing and vital.
Although lemons contain an acidic pH of about 2 on the scale due to its high amount of citric acid, when consumed it actually becomes alkaline with a pH well over 7. Posted at 12:43h, 25 FebruaryIn terms of Ratio I like to add a few drops of lemon into the water not to much to the point it’s sour. Ginger also has so many amazing health benefits as well. I would have to dig deeper to see if we would maximize from its benefits in the morning on a empty stomach like lemon!
